🥖 A Table, Mes Amis: Lessons in Eating Well from the French 🇫🇷

There’s something magical about how Parisians eat—something that feels less like a task and more like a ritual. As I prepare for my first solo trip to Europe this summer, I’ve been reflecting on the beauty of French food culture and how different it is from the American norm. And y’all… there’s so much we can learn.

The French don’t just cook. They curate. They don’t just eat. They savor. Meals are made with care, attention, and a quiet kind of pride—not just in the flavors but in the act itself. I believe we should be proud enough of ourselves to take that same kind of pride in what we put into our beautiful, amazing bodies.

Here are a few lovely lessons the French live by—and some simple Parisian-inspired recipes I can’t wait to bring home.

🧺 1. Shop Small, Shop Often

In Paris, you won’t find giant carts overflowing with bulk everything. Instead, locals pop into their favorite markets and bakeries every day or two. They shop for what they need, and they choose with intention—fresh produce, crusty bread, creamy cheese, ripe tomatoes.

Lesson: Buy less, choose better, waste less. Let your ingredients inspire your meals.

🥗 2. Eat with the Seasons

French meals celebrate what’s in season. A tomato salad in July tastes nothing like one in January—and that’s the point. When something is in season, it’s at its best, and you don’t need to do much to make it sing.

Lesson: Learn to love the rhythm of the year through your food.

🍷 3. Structure Matters

A Parisian dinner at home might include a little salad to start, a warm main dish, a bite of cheese, perhaps a piece of fruit or a square of dark chocolate. Nothing is rushed. No one is scrolling through phones. There is just connection, taste, and time.

Lesson: Slow down. Create a sense of occasion—yes, even on a Tuesday.

🍅 4. Simple is Elegant

A French kitchen isn’t overflowing with gadgets or fancy tricks. They master the basics and elevate them with quality ingredients and proper technique. A simple omelette, a bowl of lentils, or roasted fish can be art.

Lesson: You don’t need complicated to feel special.

💛 5. Treat Food as Self-Love

What we eat becomes who we are—our energy, our skin, our spirit. The French understand that and honor it without apology. They eat to nourish and to enjoy.

Lesson: You are worth a little extra effort.

✨A Note from Me to You

This upcoming trip feels like more than just a vacation—it’s an invitation to live life a little more fully, to nourish myself with joy, and to come home not only inspired but transformed.

So, let’s take a cue from the French. Let’s eat a little slower, cook a little more lovingly, and remember that we are so worth it.

Bon appétit,

Honey 🍯🐝💛🌿

P.S. I’ll be sharing more from my adventures in Paris soon. Until then—set the table, light the candle, and enjoy the meal. Even if it’s just for you.

👩‍🌾Tip: Visit a local Farmer’s Market or produce stand weekly to purchase fresh vegetables to center your meals around for the week. Local Farmer’s Markets are like an adult Disneyland to me!
