Goodnight, London: You Didn’t Damp My Sparkle

Thank you for an amazing, albeit damp, day. The skies may have wept a little, and a message I didn’t ask for may have tried to cast a shadow, but you, London—oh, you did not damper my spirits.

Some things still sting, but the joy I carry is louder.

Some days feel like a warm cup of tea—familiar, comforting, and layered with quiet emotion.

Today was one of those.

I let myself sleep in just a little longer this morning. The rain tapping against the window felt like permission to pause. London’s gray skies might have made the city feel a little slower, but they never could steal its shine—or mine.

I spent nearly four hours wandering through Harrods, letting myself get wonderfully lost in the maze of beauty, fragrance, fashion, and food. There’s something deliciously indulgent about exploring alone, lingering where you want, touching textures, and sipping samples like you own the place. (Let’s pretend I did for a minute.)

Tonight’s dinner at Sketch was equal parts lovely and lively. The food, the mood, the infamous futuristic pod bathrooms—each detail felt delightfully theatrical. It’s a space made for art and whimsy, and I let myself soak it all in. I even laughed out loud at one point—alone but not lonely.

But I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to feeling a little melancholy as I made my way back through Soho and toward my hotel. Not for lack of gratitude—it was a beautiful day—but perhaps for the way the heart sometimes aches for things we hoped would be different.

Still, I’m proud of myself. For showing up. For savoring. For not letting a message I didn’t ask for dull my joy. Some things sting, but the joy I carry is louder.

Goodnight, London. Thank you for wrapping me in your cool, damp embrace and reminding me that even under gray skies, I still shine.

✨ Honey Note:

You can be happy and still feel heartache. The two aren’t enemies—they’re just evidence that you’re alive and brave enough to love deeply.
