I’m headed to Greece today, with a plan… and it’s a delicious one. 🇬🇷

I’m going to eat my way through it.

Not in a rushed, checklist kind of way…

but in that slow, intentional, this is how life is meant to be experienced kind of way.

I want to eat like a local.

I want to sit a little longer.

Order one more thing than I planned.

Say yes to the bread.

And perhaps even yes to dessert… more than once.

🥗 The everyday beauty

You’ll find me starting most days simply

—A traditional Greek salad

(those tomatoes alone are worth the flight)

Briny olives, creamy feta, a drizzle of olive oil that somehow tastes better than anything at home.

And yes…

salads at breakfast too.

Because in Greece, it’s not about rules.

It’s about freshness. Simplicity. Flavor.

🫒 The things I already know I’ll love

  • Warm pita with tzatziki that I will absolutely not share

  • Grilled fish by the water, simple and perfect

  • Souvlaki wrapped in paper, eaten standing somewhere charming

  • Olive oil on everything… and I mean everything

  • Meze plates that turn into a full meal without even trying

☕ The small, sweet rituals

Coffee will be a moment, not a rush.

Freddo espresso in the afternoon

A slow cappuccino in the morning

Perhaps a late-night something sweet just because I can

And yes…

there will be pastries.

  • Baklava (because how could I not)

  • A flaky spanakopita that I’ll think about long after I leave

  • Maybe something I can’t pronounce but will order anyway

🍷 The balance I believe in

I’m heading there just under 121 lbs.

And I have a feeling I’ll come home…

maybe a pound or two higher.

Or maybe not.

Because I’ll be walking. A lot.

Climbing steps. Wandering streets.

Living in a way that feels active without trying.

But even if I do?

I don’t mind.

Because this isn’t about perfection.

It’s about experience.

And as long as my scale still tells me my metabolic age is 50…

we’re in a very good place. 😉

🌿 The truth I’m taking with me

Food is not just fuel.

It’s culture.

It’s connection.

It’s memory in the making.

And I have a feeling that what I’ll bring home

won’t be anything I ate…

…but the way it all made me feel.

💛 Honey Note

Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do…

is not measure, track, or restrict.

It’s to sit down, take a bite, and fully enjoy it.

Because a life well lived isn’t built on what we avoided…

It’s built on what we allowed ourselves to experience.

With a full heart and an empty plate,

ready for the next one…

Con dolcezza e un pizzico di indulgenza 🤍

🇬🇷 Must-Order in Greece Checklist

  • Horiatiki (Traditional Greek Salad)

Tomatoes, cucumber (I don’t eat them but they are pretty to look at), olives, feta, olive oil — no lettuce, ever

  • Tzatziki + Warm Pita

    Creamy, garlicky, cooling perfection

  • Olives + Feta + Olive Oil

    Simple, but somehow unforgettable

  • Dakos

A rustic tomato + feta salad on barley rusk (very local, very good)

🍢 Casual + Street Food Moments

  • Souvlaki (in a pita or on a skewer)

My “eat this standing somewhere charming” meal

  • Gyro Wrap

Messy in the best way

  • Spanakopita

Spinach + feta in flaky pastry

  • Tiropita

Cheese pie… buttery, salty, irresistible

🐟 Seaside & Santorini Moments

  • Grilled Whole Fish

Lemon, olive oil, nothing else needed

  • Grilled Octopus

    Slightly charred, tender, so good

I love octopus, and I love octopus in a love them as a being way too, so I rarely indulge but here I will

  • Calamari (fried or grilled)

  • Seafood Meze at Ammoudi Bay

This is a moment, not just a meal

🧀 Meze to Share (or not)

  • Saganaki (fried cheese)

Golden, crispy, maybe even flamed

  • Dolmades

Stuffed grape leaves, bright and lemony

  • Gigantes

Giant beans in tomato sauce (comfort food, Greek-style)

  • Melitzanosalata

Smoky eggplant dip

☕ Coffee Culture

  • Freddo Espresso

    My afternoon ritual

  • Freddo Cappuccino

    Creamy, iced, addictive

  • Traditional Greek Coffee

Strong, slow, and meant to be lingered over

🍯 Sweet Treats (because… of course)

  • Baklava

    Honey, nuts, flaky layers

  • Loukoumades

Little honey donuts — warm, sticky, perfect

  • Galaktoboureko

    Custard pastry soaked in syrup

  • Whatever catches my eye in a bakery

🍨 A Few Lovely Extras

  • Greek Yogurt with Honey & Nuts

    Simple, perfect, anytime

  • Mastiha (must try!)

A uniquely Greek flavor from tree resin—slightly piney, herbal, almost like vanilla with a whisper of the outdoors

    It’s unexpectedly lovely

  • Greek Yogurt + Honey

Creamy, tangy, lightly sweet… very “me”

  • Pistachio (often from Aegina)

Rich, nutty, and a local point of pride

  • Fig

    Subtle, earthy sweetness—very Mediterranean

  • Sesame (sometimes with honey)

Think halva-inspired… warm, nutty, different in the best way

  • Lemon Sorbet 🍋

    Bright, tart, super refreshing

  • Watermelon Sorbet 🍉

Feels like summer in a spoon

  • Orange or Citrus

    Especially in Athens—so fresh

  • Ordering flavors that I have never heard of - that’s usually the one I will remember most.
