✨Planning Day Three in Rome: A Pilgrimage of Beauty, Bravery & Simple Joys

There are some days in life that feel like they’re stitched together with threads of awe—and my third morning in Rome will begin just like that. I’ll slip out of my hotel before the rush, coffee in hand, the city still stretching awake. There is something tender about Rome at dawn… as if all the centuries hush themselves long enough to let you hear your own heartbeat.

My first stop is the Vatican Museums, a place that holds more beauty than the mind can fully process. It’s not just art; it’s human achievement on display. It’s devotion carved in marble, stories painted sky-high, and a thousand years of people searching for meaning. I know I’ll feel it—the weight, the wonder, and the reminder that we’re all part of something much bigger than ourselves.

By the time I exit, I’ll need a gentle reset, and Rome always provides one.

A soft stop for a Roman maritozzo—that pillowy, lightly sweet cream-filled bun the locals love—is precisely the kind of joy a morning like this calls for. Just simple happiness, right there in my hands.

Then, I’ll walk into St. Peter’s Basilica, a place built not only to impress but to lift. Its scale alone can move you to tears, and its beauty feels like an embrace from something ancient and kind. After exploring its vast interior, I’ll climb the dome—stairs and all—because standing above Rome, looking out over terracotta rooftops and the curve of the Tiber, feels like an earned moment of triumph. A quiet testament to how far I’ve come, in every sense.

Afterward, I plan to sit somewhere peaceful with a view—no agenda, just breath and gratitude. And if my heart wants one more moment of wonder, a slow walk toward Castel Sant’Angelo will be waiting for me. Even just seeing the angels on the bridge will be enough.

The afternoon will be for drifting in and out of little boutiques along Via dei Coronari, one of Rome’s most charming streets. I’ll follow curiosity wherever it pulls me—leather shops, tiny artisan windows, small treasures that feel like they were waiting for me all along. I love days with built-in permission to wander.

And as the Roman evening begins to settle in, I’ll head back toward the Pantheon, glowing like a lantern in the night. Dinner will be either Armando al Pantheon, where the pasta tastes like comfort itself, or Pizzeria da Baffetto, lively and beloved by locals. Whichever direction I choose, it will be the right one. Rome has a way of making every fork in the road a delicious one.

Of course, a stop at Giolitti is non-negotiable—because some traditions are too sweet to resist. Pistachio, stracciatella, perhaps a little hazelnut… a Honey-approved combination.

I’ll end the night standing before the Pantheon, letting the cool Roman breeze wrap around me. A day like this changes you in tiny, lasting ways. It fills the heart, steadies the soul, and reminds you that life—every bit of it—is magnificent.

Honey Note 🍯

The beauty of this day won’t just be in the masterpieces, but in the quiet moments between them—the soft morning light, the taste of cream and orange blossom in a maritozzo, a random shop that feels like a secret, a bowl of pasta that warms the spirit, and the dome of St. Peter’s reminding me that strength and tenderness can live in the same woman.

And perhaps the loveliest truth of all:

I am exactly where I’m meant to be, uncovering new pieces of myself in the Eternal City.

Con amore e quieta forza,

🐝 Honey

(the version of me who keeps choosing wonder, even when the path is steep)

P.S.

Perhaps the sweetest part of traveling alone is realizing you’re never truly alone—your courage walks with you, your joy waits for you, and somewhere ahead, life is already preparing its next beautiful surprise.
