Planning Day Twelve — Venice “Imprint Day”

My last full day in the Floating City — a day to wander, breathe, and let Venice leave her mark on me.
Some days are for plans. This one is for impressions — soft, beautiful imprints that only Venice can make. No tickets, no urgency… just a woman and a city falling quietly, sweetly in love.
Morning — A Slow Start & A Walk Toward the Accademia
I’ll begin my day with breakfast at H10 Palazzo Canova, savoring one last slow Venetian morning.
Around 9:00–9:30 AM, I’ll head out on foot, crossing the Rialto area as the city yawns awake. My first destination is the Accademia Bridge, and the walk there is a dream:
Narrow calli that open unexpectedly into tiny campos
Bridges with soft morning light
Shops are just beginning to lift their gates
It’s about 20 minutes if I walked straight… but this is Venice. It will take longer in the loveliest ways.
When I reach the Accademia Bridge, I’ll pause.
This is one of the most iconic views of the Grand Canal — a gentle reminder of how beautiful the world can be when someone was bold enough to build a city on water.
Late Morning — Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute
From the Accademia Bridge, it’s a short, scenic walk to Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, that glorious white-domed symbol guarding the entrance to the Grand Canal.
This basilica feels peaceful in a very personal way — a place to reflect, breathe, and quietly say thank you for all of this.
Inside:
Marble floors
High, soft light
Art that feels aware of you
Outside:
A sweeping curve of water
Gondolas drifting
Views across to St. Mark’s that look painted
I’ll take my time here.
Lunch — Somewhere Light, Local, & Lovely
✨ Sweet lunch ideas nearby:
Ristorante Lineadombra
A little elevated, a lot peaceful. Perfect for a solo diner who enjoys water views.
Or I may wander until something calls my name — a tiny trattoria with two tables outside, a bar serving cicchetti, a quiet café with a shady seat.
I’ll let my appetite guide me.
Afternoon — Dorsoduro Drifting & A Possible Gondola Ride
After lunch, I’ll wander deeper into Dorsoduro, the neighborhood that feels like it’s whispering, “Stay a little longer…”
My walk may take me to:
Zattere promenade (I’ll return here for sunset, but the afternoon light is pretty too)
Little artisan shops
Galleries tucked into alleys
Quiet canals where laundry hangs from windows
Bridges with no tourists, only locals and soft footsteps
If the moment feels right — and I suspect it will — I might take a late-afternoon gondola ride. This is the dreamiest time:
The light glows.
The canals soften.
The world feels like it’s exhaling.
I won’t overthink it.
If my heart says yes, I’ll glide.
Perhaps A Sweet Venetian Snack
A scoop from Gelateria Nico on the Zattere (famous for their gianduiotto)
A cappuccino or macchiato from a tiny café
A slice of fruit tart from a neighborhood bakery
A small paper cup of pistachios or biscotti for the walk
Venice is even better when you have something lovely in your hand.
Sunset — Zattere Waterfront
I’ll end the daylight hours on the Zattere waterfront, watching the sun tuck itself behind Guidecca Island.
This is one of the softest, most glowing sunsets in Venice.
Locals stroll.
Couples lean into each other.
The water becomes watercolor.
I’ll stand there and try to take all of it in — the last golden light of my last full day.
Dinner — Cozy, Venetian, Solo-Friendly
✨ Beautiful options for my last supper in Venice:
Taverna San Trovaso
Warm, welcoming, classic, and easy for a solo diner.
Ristorante La Zucca (slightly farther but worth it)
Beautiful vegetarian dishes, fresh seasonal plates — elegant but not fussy.
Ristorante Al Vecio Marangon
Super local, tiny, soulful — Venice as the locals live it.
Or I’ll let spontaneity decide — and trust Venice, as I always do.
Return to the Hotel — 7:30 PM
Tonight, I won’t stay out late.
I’ll return to H10 Palazzo Canova around 7:30 PM to pack, shower, and savor my final quiet moments by the Grand Canal.
I’ll lay my clothes out for travel, tuck away gifts and memories, and whisper a small thank-you to this city that made me feel brave, curious, and completely alive.
Preparing for Tomorrow’s Departure (My “Day 13 Early Morning”)
My flight leaves Venice at 6:30 AM.
To arrive comfortably at the airport (VCE), go through security, and board my early flight, I will need:
🚤 A Private Water Taxi from My Hotel: 3:45 AM
This is the correct time.
Water taxis take about 25–35 minutes, depending on tides.
Airport procedures at VCE open early, and the first flights of the day board quickly.
I will ask the hotel to book my private water taxi for 3:45 AM.
They will handle the details and give me instructions.
⏳ Arrival at VCE around 4:15 AM
Plenty of buffer
No stress
No risk
Time to check bags, pass security, find my gate, and breathe
It’s early — but I will nap on my Amsterdam → Detroit flight and again once I'm home.
Honey Note 🍯
Some cities ask you to rush. Venice asks you to feel. This last day — this imprint day — is where everything I’ve seen and felt settles into the softer corners of my heart. I’ll carry these canals with me long after I leave. And even as I rise before dawn and slip quietly away by water taxi, I know this won’t be goodbye.
It will simply be, “See you again someday.”
Con un bacio salato dal mare,
Honey 🐝💛🌙
A little wistful, a lot grateful, and forever changed by Venice.
