Ever wonder what folks are up to when they’re scanning everything in sight at the grocery store? Turns out, they might be on a mission to live longer, feel better, and ditch the additives—one barcode at a time.

Discover how the Yuka app became my family's go-to guide for clean eating, and why living healthy doesn't have to be expensive, boring, or perfect.

Scan smarter, eat better—and maybe even find a little afternoon delight along the way. 💚🍯

Hey y’all—Honey here!

My daughter called me from the grocery store recently, laughing. “I think people think I’m a SHIPT shopper,” she said. “I’m scanning everything—just like y’all do!”

Yep—she’s officially joined the Yuka club. My son and I have been using the app for a few years now, and it's clear that the habit has rubbed off.

If you haven’t tried it yet, Yuka is a free app that lets you scan barcodes and instantly see how healthy—or hazardous—your food and cosmetic products really are. It breaks it down simply: Are there harmful additives? Too much sugar? High in sodium? And best of all, it suggests healthier alternatives. I’ve discovered some truly delicious options I never would’ve picked up otherwise!

They also offer a Premium Membership for less than $15 a year, which I have—and love. It lets you search products without needing to scan, making it even easier to shop smart. It’s genuinely fantastic.

Now, I’m not perfect—and I don’t aim to be. Where’s the joy in never indulging? But I do try to avoid anything that scores below 70 on the Yuka scale, and I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot when my favorite treats land in the 90–100 range.

Occasionally, I’ll go for something a little high in sugar or sodium—as long as it’s free from questionable ingredients. Because to me, healthy eating isn’t about being rigid; it’s about being intentional.

The truth is, we have more control over our health than we sometimes realize. Food, sleep, movement, and mindset—those daily decisions are the building blocks of vitality, longevity, and a life that genuinely feels good from the inside out.

And it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. You just need to stay curious, keep it simple, and maybe… carry a barcode scanner in your back pocket.

And if you’re lucky enough to find someone who shares that same zest for living well—someone who’ll toast a green juice with you after your morning walk or cook up a nourishing dinner after your evening bike ride—that’s the cherry on top of a beautiful life.

Or dare I say… a little afternoon delight. 😉

With love and a healthy dose of joy,

🍯 Honey
