When the Past Pokes Back

It’s always when I’ve finally found my footing — when the air feels lighter and the road ahead looks clear — that the past seems to find its way back to me.

A faint vibration on my phone. A name that used to make my heart race.

Nothing of meaning, just a quiet hey, I’m still here… do you remember me? Do you still care?

And the truth, if I’m being honest, is yes.

Yes, I remember.

Yes, a piece of me still cares.

But no — I can’t look back.

Because healing means learning when not to answer. It means standing firm when the ground beneath you feels like old memories. It means choosing yourself, again and again, until it no longer feels like a choice.

The holidays are coming. I have a Florida trip on the horizon, and Italy waiting just a few months away.

Life is gently reminding me that forward is where the beauty lives.

So I’ll keep focusing on me — on this woman who has rebuilt herself from the inside out — and I’ll keep walking.

I don’t want a man who doesn’t know what he wants.

I’ve lived enough life to know that I don’t need to date just to fill the space beside me.

I want love that feels sure. Steady. Magnetic.

The kind that expands me instead of confuses me.

And until that kind of love finds me, I’m content right here, becoming more of who I am meant to be.

If a man isn’t willing to chase, choose, and cherish me, then he isn’t my man.

If he wants games, he can play them alone.

And if he’s looking for something casual, I hope he finds someone else to pass the time with.

I’m saving what’s sacred for the one who will make it feel like forever.

Because my heart, even after all it’s been through, still believes in forever.

💛 Honey Note:

Healing isn’t about proving you’ve moved on. It’s about knowing you no longer need to look back. Some stories end quietly, but their lessons echo beautifully.

With grace, strength, and a heart that still believes,

— Honey 🍯

P.S.

I’m waiting for the man whose steadiness feels like home — whose energy feels like peace.

The one who meets me where I am — not where I’ve been.

Because love is about two souls recognizing each other and saying yes at the same time — freely, fully, and without hesitation.
