Why I Blog (And Why You Might Want To, Too)

Sometimes we write not because we have all the answers, but because we’ve lived through the questions.
I blog to make meaning out of joy and pain, to leave little love notes for my granddaughter, and maybe—just maybe—to offer a glimmer of hope to someone who stumbles across my words when they need it most.
It’s my way of saying: you’re not alone, and you’re stronger than you think.

Some people wonder why anyone would blog. I get it—on the surface, it might seem like just another way to overshare in a world already full of noise. But to me, blogging is something entirely different. It’s not about shouting into the void or trying to go viral. It’s about connection. Reflection. Purpose.
The only real theme here is me—Honey. 💛 This blog will wander through all kinds of seasons and subjects, just like life does. Some days I write about health or healing, other days it might be love, loss, laughter, or whatever’s tugging at my heart. And that’s what I love most about blogging: there are no rules. I can show up when I’m inspired, pause when I need to, and explore whatever feels real that day. It’s my space to be fully, freely me—and I think that’s a beautiful thing.
For me, blogging is joy. It’s the joy of crafting words into something meaningful. It’s the joy of sharing knowledge, stories, or lessons I’ve learned—sometimes the hard way—and offering them up in case they might help someone else feel less alone. It’s creative expression, a form of self-care, and sometimes even a little courage on display.
Unlike social media, where posts pop up uninvited into someone’s feed, a blog is more like a little front porch with a welcome mat. People choose to come visit. It’s an open book left on a table, waiting to be read. It’s a handwritten note on a bulletin board, read only by those who stop to look. It’s quiet and intentional. And that makes it feel more like an offering than an imposition.
I started blogging because I’ve lived a life filled with joy and pain and deep, meaningful growth. I’ve survived cancer. I live without a pancreas. I live with Type 1 Diabetes. I’ve had my heart broken and started over, perhaps more times than I can count. But I’m still here—living, thriving, and choosing every single day to find beauty, purpose, and laughter. I know there are others out there walking through their own hard chapters. If something I share gives them hope or just helps them feel seen, then I’ve done something that matters.
I also blog for the little girl who calls me Honey—my granddaughter. One day, I hope she’ll read these love letters I’ve written to life and feel the warmth and wisdom of a grandmother who never stopped believing in joy.
And honestly? I blog because I don’t want to be someone who lets dreams gather dust. I believe in following through—on joy, on purpose, on passion. Time is precious, and I want to use mine well. Blogging helps me live with intention, and if it lifts someone else up along the way, all the better.
So if you’ve ever thought about sharing your story—whether it’s your travels, your recipes, your healing, your humor, or your heart—perhaps you’ll consider blogging, too. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be you. And someone, somewhere, might be needing to hear exactly what you have to say.
With love and hope,
Honey 🍯
