Legacy of Honey
There’s something fascinating about seeing yourself broken down into percentages and traits — as if a little chart could explain how you came to be you.
My recent ancestry results read like a map of charm and curiosity:
A swirl of Southeastern England and Celtic roots, a sprinkle of Scotland and Ireland, just enough Nordic and Germanic influence to make things interesting, and of course, one percent Native American, which I love! Apparently, I’m genetically coded for curly hair, light eyes, thick strands, and a love of dancing — which feels spot-on.
But the real fun began when I scrolled through the traits section.
According to science, I’m:
✨ “More artistic”
✨ “More determined”
✨ “Likely to enjoy spicy foods”
✨ “Competitive”
✨ “Likely to enjoy dancing”
✨ “Unlikely to get motion sick” (accurate!)
✨ “Less optimistic” (we’ll just go ahead and ignore that one, shall we?)
Some of it made me nod, others made me laugh out loud. Because while DNA can tell you a lot — it can’t tell you how you’ll rise after life knocks you down, or how deeply you’ll love the people you hold closest.
When I look at my granddaughter, with her wild curls and bold spirit, I see both the science and the soul of our family. She’s daring, curious, and a tiny bit bossy (in the very best way). Those curls are all mine — but that sparkle in her eyes, that’s her own kind of magic.
We are, each of us, a mix of the people who came before us and the choices we make along the way. DNA may whisper who we are, but living fully — with joy, resilience, and love — is how we shout it to the world.
🍯 Honey Note:
Our genetics give us a melody, but our hearts decide the rhythm. And if you’re lucky, you’ll see a little someone dancing to the same beat — curls bouncing, laughter echoing — a living reminder that love runs deeper than DNA. 💛
With love and a wink from the gene pool,
Honey
